research & clinical trials

Equipoise Healthcare wants to empower the success of clinical research by helping to connect patients with the best fitting clinical trial for them.

We are also available for certain types of industry consultation and are interested in becoming a site for suitable clinical trials.  Although we are not yet a member of the Children’s Oncology Group (COG), we are working towards that goal.  With experience in translational research, as well as navigating through and participating in clinical trials, we can help connect the patient with research options, assist with managing the patient’s medical needs while on study (depending on the specialty), and advocate for the patient.

If you are already an Equipoise patient, this service is included in your normal medical care, as we believe that research is both a patient’s choice and a physician-scientist’s responsibility.

If you are not an Equipoise patient, this service costs $400, due prior to services rendered, as insurance plans will not cover a consultation solely for research purposes. You will need to send, in advance, a copy of all recent test results.  The initial consultation lasts up to one hour and covers a patient visit (in-person or via telehealth), review of your records, education about clinical trials as they relate to you, and a determination of how clinical research might fit with your goals.  After the initial consultation, some patients will not choose to pursue any options in clinical research, while others may have ongoing interest.  Therefore, the cost for follow-up consultation depends on the scope of the plan, determined after the initial consultation.
